Security Industry Firearms Courses & Re Certification

At times specialist security and protective personnel are required to be armed in order to protect the assets, valuables and cash that need to be transfered from site to site. The Security Industry Firearms Courses offers students the ability to gain their Police firearms certification and brush up on their firearms skills at the same time. Course Duration

Officers MUST have completed the Security Licensing course prior to this specialist weapons course

 

Full time study: Minimum of 35 hours per week over approximately 2 weeks.

Part time study: Minimum of 15 hours per week over approximatley 5 weeks.

Re-Certifications: 1 day Operational range assessment every 12 months with written assessments.

 

The duration of your course is dependent upon the hours that you dedicate to your studies. This is a competency based course, however it is expected that on a full time basis you can complete one unit per week.

 

Course Delivery

This course is delivered via both Practical face to face training & theory based training using both textbook resources and e-learning online. Upon enrolment students are issued with a log-in and password, student pack and access to Conwal's e-learning centre.

 

Students will be required to attend a certified range and undergo operational firerams training using duty firerams. Officers may be trained in SemiAutomatic Handguns, Revolvers, Duty Pump Action Shotguns and the use and wearing of Soft body Armour.

 

During this course students are under training instruction from certified weapons instructors certified by the Queensland Police Service.

 

Students are required to complete both legal and regulatory government documetation prior to the course commencement to ensure suitablity in the use and handling of operational weapons.
